Councilman David Alvarez Endorses Georgette Gomez for City Council



Alvarez Endorsement Gives Gómez A Big Boost In The Overwhelming Democratic And Latino District

SAN DIEGO -- The Georgette Gómez for City Council campaign today announced the endorsement of Councilmember David Alvarez, a key progressive voice on the City Council and one of San Diego’s most well respected Democratic leaders.

Councilmember Alvarez said, "Georgette Gómez is a champion for our neighborhoods who has committed her life to fighting for justice for our working families. Georgette stands up to downtown interests and always does what is right for our communities. She has what it takes to shake up City Hall and put the focus back on our neighborhoods.”

Alvarez’s endorsement is one of San Diego’s most respected and coveted. Alvarez has strong backing among Democrats, progressive and Latinos. He has an established base of support in Council District 9. In the 2014 Mayoral Runoff Election, Alvarez received 65% of the vote in the district. He is well known for working passionately to elect candidates he believes in.

Georgette Gomez is a candidate for San Diego City Council District 9. Georgette is a member of the City Heights Area Planning Committee and associate director of the Environmental Health Coalition’s Toxic-Free Neighborhoods Campaign. Georgette and her partner, Xochitl, live in the Azalea Park neighborhood of City Heights.
